Baseball Loses In Walk-Off Fashion On Final Game In Florida

AUBURNDALE, Fla- The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team was on the wrong side of a 5-4 walkoff to Anna Maria Wednesday morning at Lake Myrtle Park Field #4.

Wednesday's game concludes the eight-game Florida Trip. UPG now returns north where it will play the final 31 games of the season.

Both sides were held scoreless through the opening three innings of action, but in the top of the fourth, the Bobcats scored two runs to break the scoreless tie. Abram King singled to centerfield, which scored Austyn Carson and Will Thorp followed with a run-scoring base hit, that brought home Jace Cappellini.

Anna Maria trailed by two runs heading into the bottom of the seventh but tied things up scoring two runs on three hits.

The Bobcats would come right back in the top of the eighth and re-take the lead, thanks to RBI base hits from Jordan Cavanaugh and Thorp.

Anna Maria got a run back in the bottom of the inning and added two in the ninth for the walk-off victory.

Matt Mish put together a strong outing on the mound for the Bobcats, allowing just two runs over 6.1 innings with four strikeouts in a no-decision.

Carson and Thorp led the way offensively for Pitt-Greensburg with two hits each, while Brody Bonadio, King, Cappellini, Cavanaugh, and Dylan DeRoss each had a base-hit. Carson also had an excellent day on the base paths, stealing three bags.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Saturday afternoon, playing host to Thiel in a non-conference doubleheader slated for 1 pm.
