Offensive woes too much to overcome for Bobcats against Lions

The Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team struggled in its match against Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday. The Bobcats dropped all three sets by scores of 25-6, 25-16, and 25-15.

The Bobcats struggled on the offensive side of the match, scoring just 15 kills throughout the three sets, while Altoona recorded 39 kills with 18 errors. UPG recorded eight more errors than kills in the match, giving them a negative offensive percentage.

Emma Halutick recorded over half of the recorded kills for the Bobcats, while Taylor Logan and Alexis Ray recorded three kills each. Logan also recorded 11 kills while Abby Copeland and Alanna Meloy recorded 11 digs each.

In the first set, the Bobcats jumped out to a 2-1 lead only for the lions to record nine straight points to take a 10-2 lead. Altoona finished the set recording ten of the last 12 points to win the set.

The Lions started the second set on a run as well, jumping out to an 15-5 lead before the Bobcats could put some points together. PSU Altoona proved to be too much for Pitt-Greensburg once again, taking the second set.

The Bobcats stayed close in the third set, staying within three points through the middle of the set, only for the Lions to rattle off six-straight points, to take control of the set and the match, finishing off the Bobcats for the night.

The Bobcats season is nearing an end, with just three matches left. UPG will travel to Pitt-Bradford on Saturday to take on the Panthers. First serve is set for 1 pm.
