GREENSBURG- The Pitt-Greensburg men's tennis team kicks off its long awaited 2021 season Saturday afternoon against Medaille at the Greensburg Racquet Club. Saturday's match is scheduled for 1:30 pm.

Pitt-Greensburg has high hopes entering 2021 as it held a 4-1 mark in conference play before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After dropping the season opener to Penn State Behrend, the Bobcats rolled off four-straight conference victories and held a firm grasp of second place in the AMCC standings, before the season was abruptly canceled.

The Bobcats enter this season with a solid mix of upperclassman leadership as well as a group of young, but talented freshmen. Leading the charge for UPG will be seniors Vaughn Hunkele and Andrew Oden followed by juniors Turner Price and Francisco Garcia.

Last season, all four upperclassmen had posted winning records in both singles and doubles, including Turner Price who recorded a 7-0 record and enters his third collegiate season as the reigning AMCC Player of the Year.

Over the last two seasons, the Bobcats top doubles pairing of Price and Hunkele has been amongst the top in the conference posting a 9-2 mark. Not to be outdone, Garcia and Oden were during an impressive campaign posting a perfect 5-0 record before the season was abruptly ended.

Joining the talented group of juniors and seniors will be freshmen Nate Baker, Michael Cannnon, Kyle Glessner, William Schmidt, and Deven Summers.

Pitt-Greensburg will play four regular-season matches with the top-four teams qualifying for the AMCC Tournament, which will be held April 17-18.
in accordance with AMCC COVID-19 protocols, spectators will not be permitted at indoor sporting events.  This decision was made by the Presidents (All Presidents and Chancellors) Council of the AMCC.
