Men’s Tennis Downs Medaille, 6-3, In Season Opener

GREENSBURG- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg men's tennis team opened their 2021 campaign on Saturday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club. The Bobcats picked up right where they left off after last season was abruptly canceled due to COVID-19, with 6-3 victory over Medaille College. 

Singles Matches 

  • Pitt-Greensburg went 4-2 in the singles portion of the contest, all six matches were decided in two sets. 

  • Seniors Turner Price and Vaughn Hunkele started their senior seasons off strong, with straight set victories. 

  • Price dominated, 6-0, 6-0, and Hunkele won 6-0, 6-3. 

  • Medaille took matches three and four, Andrew Oden got edged out 6-4, 6-4 in match four. 

  • Francisco Garcia cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win. 

  • Kyle Glessner earned his first collegiate win in convincing fashion, 6-2, 6-2.  

Doubles Matches 

  • Pitt-Greensburg won two out of three doubles matches. 

  • Each match had a final score of 8-2. 

  • The Price / Hunkele and Oden / Garcia duos were the Bobcat winners. 

The Bobcats will have a two-week break before continuing their COVID-19 abbreviated season on March 14, when they host Mt. Aloysius at Greensburg Racquet Club.
