GREENSBURG, PA- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg softball team is ready to be back on the diamond this Wednesday for the first time in over a year, after COVID-19 caused an abrupt end to their 2020 season. The Bobcats went 4-6 in last years shortened season, and have 36 games on the slate for this year.

The 36 games on the schedule will be played across 18 double headers. The season begins with an eight game homestand. Carnegie Mellon will visit Greensburg on Wednesday to start the year, followed by nonconference doubleheaders versus Mount Aloysius and Carlow University. Conference play begins on Saturday, March 27th against Penn State Behrend at the Pitt-Greensburg Softball Field. Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play features a twin bill against each of the eight teams. Pitt-Greensburg will host three conference doubleheaders, while they will be on the road for five. The home contests are against Penn State Behrend, La Roche, and Pitt-Bradford, while the Bobcats will travel to Penn State Altoona, Alfred State, Mount Aloysius, Hilbert, and Medaille for conference play.

Head Coach, Chuck Myers returns for his sixth season at the helm of the Bobcats. He will lead a young squad, that features five freshman, seven sophomores, three juniors, and two seniors.

Senior, Krista Bayus will return to the diamond after an injury forced her to miss last season. Madison Hollis is ready for her senior season, as well, after hitting .333 in the limited 2020 season.

Junior, Brittany Dunn played in all 10 games in the abbreviated 2020 season, where she hit .423, which leads all returning Bobcats, and scored a team best nine runs. Caitlin Kavulick will look to repeat her abbreviated sophomore season, as she batted a .400 average in 15 at bats, and led the team with six RBI last year. Jaden DiFilippo rounds out the junior class, and joins Dunn as the only two returning players that had at least two plate appearances per game and played in 75% of games in 2020.

Kayla Santucci, Laila Smith, and Haley Liccketto all return for their second season after eclipsing the .300 mark in their shortened freshman seasons in the batter's box. Fellow sophomores, Ashley Noel and Hannah Corvin played in seven and six games, respectively, a year ago. Corrin Parquette, a catcher and third basemen, joins the team after one year at Westmoreland County Community College.

The Bobcats will turn to sophomores, Drew Diodato and Smith, in the pitcher's circle. The duo combined to start five of the ten games last year, and will look to build on that experience heading into their second season of competition at the collegiate level.

The freshmen class includes Jaden Arcuri, Emily Novak, Madison Stonbraker, Kasey Weller, and Taylor Bojtos. All five freshmen play multiple positions, and will be called upon to contribute to the Bobcats success this season.
