BEAVER FALLS, PA – The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's soccer team and Geneva College were destined for overtime on Tuesday evening at Reeves Field. They were deadlocked at 0-0 through 89-plus minutes, but with eight seconds left in regulation Tiffany Michalek fielded a pass from Ashley Lucas and scored the game winning goal for Pitt-Greensburg.
The Bobcats got late possession and Lucas found Michalek eight yards out. Michalek gained possession and struck a left footed shot into the back of the net to keep Pitt-Greensburg's perfect season alive (7-0).
Both teams got four shots off in the first half. Geneva had the same in the second half, but Pitt-Greensburg turned up the offensive pressure with 13 shots, seven on goal, in the ladder half.
The Bobcat defense was on point again tonight, only allowing three corner kicks. Lauren Yoder stood tall in goal all 90 minutes and saved all six shots that came her way. Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg attempted 13 corner kicks.
Michalek shot a team high seven times and had three on goal, none more important than the one with eight ticks to go.
Pitt-Greensburg will be back on the pitch for an AMCC matchup on Saturday. They will welcome Penn State Behrend to Ridilla Field at 2 pm.
