Titans Too Much For Women’s Tennis

Box Score NEW WILMINGTON, Pa - The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss on Saturday afternoon at Westminster College. Emily Ruhlman was the lone Bobcat to salvage a point, as she won her singles match.

The Bobcats' early season record moves to 1-1, and the Titans get off to a 1-0 start. Westminster improves their all-time record to 6-0 over Pitt-Greensburg.

Doubles:

Westminster handled the doubles portion of the match rather easily. They won all three matches by scores of 8-2, 8-3, and 8-1.

The Bobcats switched their doubles order from their opening match on Wednesday. Emily Ruhlman and Abigail Rosman moved up to the #1 spot, and Miranda Berkebile and Cathryn Rossi swung in the #2 match. Kelsey Murphy and Stephanie Pantelas made their 2021 season debuts in the #3 spot.

Singles:

Ruhlman swept her opponent 6-1 and 6-2 in the #1 match to get Pitt-Greensburg up to begin the singles portion of the match.

Westminster came back and won each of the remaining five matches in two sets, to close out the 8-1 win.

Amber Sterrett was the closest the Bobcats would get to winning another set, as she dropped her first set 7-5 in the #5 match.

Isabella Lane competed in her first singles match of the season in the #6 spot.

Pitt-Greensburg will stay on the road for their next match on Wednesday, when they travel to Waynesburg University. First serve is scheduled for 4 pm.
