Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Loses City Game to Seton Hill

GREENSBURG – The first edition of what some are calling the Greensburg City Game, between the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Seton Hill University women's basketball teams, took place this afternoon inside the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center on the campus of Seton Hill. The Griffins, an NCAA Division II member, handled the Bobcats, 91-45.

Sidney McCully led Pitt-Greensburg with 13 points, with 10 coming in the second half. Nadege Durand netted 12 and hauled in eight rebounds, as she now extends her double-digit scoring streak to nine games to start the season. Abigail Benally scored eight, the most of her freshman campaign thus far.

Melina Maietta made a three-pointer and Durand followed with a jumper early in the game to give Pitt-Greensburg their only lead, at 5-4. The Griffins grabbed the lead right back with six points in a row and never trailed again.

The Bobcats were held to single digits in the second and third quarters, while Seton Hill scored 21-plus in the first three quarters. The teams each scored 14 in the fourth. The Griffins largest lead of the afternoon was 48 points, which came multiple times in the fourth quarter.

Pitt-Greensburg kept the rebounding margin close (38-35) and pulled down 12 offensive boards while allowing eight. However, Seton Hill owned the advantage in nearly every statistical category, including noteworthy margins in points in the paint (44-14), fast break points (11-2), and turnovers forced (23-11).

The Griffins capitalized on those turnovers, converting them into 30 points. The Bobcats were unable to turn their offensive rebound advantage into points, only making three second chance points.

Pitt-Greensburg will return to AMCC play on Wednesday, when they travel to Penn State Behrend. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
