CRESSON, PA - The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's basketball team got back on its winning ways with a convincing 84-64 win at Mount Aloysius this evening to kick off a three-game week.
Nadege Durand led the Bobcats (13-4, 8-2 AMCC) by posting her sixth 20+ point game and fifth double-double, with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Shaquoia McCray earned herself a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double, her third double-double of the season and seventh time eclipsing the double-digit mark on the boards.
Sidney McCully and Maddie Sitler scored 11 apiece, while Ten Bobcats netted points on the night.
Pitt-Greensburg got off to a great start and never looked back. The Bobcats forged a 19-8 lead after the opening ten minutes of play. Then, put up 20+ in each of the final three quarters to cruise to a twenty-point victory.
The Bobcats shot 50.8% on the game, going 31-for-61 from the field. On the defensive end Pitt-Greensburg held the Mounties to 36.5% shooting, including just five made field goals in the first half to help build the early Bobcat lead.
Behind McCray and Durand's leading rebounding efforts the Blue and Gold owned a +10-rebounding margin over Mount Aloysius, the eighth time the Bobcats outrebounded their opponent by double digits and third time in the last four contests.
The Pitt-Greensburg lead got to as high as 35 points (77-42) with just under six minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
The Bobcats will be back on the hardwood Wednesday, when they travel to conference leading Penn State Behrend. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 pm from Erie, Pa. The Lions won the last meeting 78-73 on January 17.
