Lucas Leads Bobcats Past RedHawks in Record-Tying Night

PITTSBURGH – It was a night of milestones for the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team as they defeated La Roche on Tuesday. In the win, Ashley Lucas tied the near 20-year record for career goals, held by Pitt-Greensburg Athletics Hall of Famer Jennifer (McIntosh) Luciew. Also in the win, head coach Chuck Wigle reached the century mark in wins for his time at Pitt-Greensburg. Wigle took over the program in 2012 and has led the team to an AMCC Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

On top of the senior's two goals, three freshmen found the back of the net for the Bobcats as Megan Hickey scored her team-leading 14 goal of the season while Maya Wertelet and Abby Henise scored their fourth and fifth goals respectively.

Freshman Hailey Kepner got the start in the net for the Bobcats and tallied one save on two shots.  Lucas tallied five shots during the contest while Hickey, Wertelet, Henise, Alexsia Barlamas and Ashleigh VanHorn also recorded multiple shots. Lucas, Barlamas, Henise, Hickey and Wertelet all recorded multiple shots on goal.

Sophomore Sarah Tonkovich led the way off the bench, playing 46 minutes for the Bobcats. Nylah Pannebaker played 83 minutes to lead the starters. The Bobcats will travel to Bradford to take on the Panthers this Saturday.
