Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

McCully, Maietta Return to Lineup; Women's Basketball Falls to Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON – After entering the half with a lead for the first time this season, the Bobcat women's basketball team was not able to hang on and secure its first win of the season, dropping their first game since before Thanksgiving to the Titans of Westminster 64-57.

Even with the loss, the Bobcats have a lot of positives to take from the game as senior leader Sidney McCully returned to the court for the first time since the season opening loss to Carlow. McCully came back with a vengeance, scoring 14 points and recording three steals. She had a heavy workload in her first game back, playing 38 of the 40 minutes.

It was also a return game for sophomore Melina Maietta, as she played her first game since the Nov. 16 loss to Mount Union. Maietta scored a game-high 22 points in 35 minutes. Freshman Tiana Moracco continued to clean up the boards as the team's leading rebounder, securing nine boards, four of them being offensive.

The Bobcats shot over 46 percent from the floor in the first and fourth quarters, but it balanced out, shooting in the low 20s in the middle quarters. The team also made six shots from behind the arc in the first half, however, went cold in the second half, making just one out of ten shots.

The Bobcats will continue look to continue to get healthy going into this weekend's game against Wooster. Tip off will be at 2 PM inside Chambers Hall.
