Strong Third Quarter Leads Bobcats Past Franciscan

GREENSBURG – The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team erased a two-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Barons of Franciscan 32-9 in the third quarter to propel the Bobcats to a 80-59 victory. With the win, the Bobcats have won four of its last five games going into conference play.
 
Sophomore Melina Maietta led the charge, scoring a game-high 21 points in just 19 minutes. Maietta had a stellar shooting day, going 5-for-7 from deep. Senior point guard Sidney McCully also had a huge game, scoring 16 points, dishing out eight assists, and securing seven rebounds. Freshman Tiana Moracco had yet another great game on the boards, recording a ten-point, ten-rebound double-double.
 
The Bobcats had one of its best bench outputs of the season as the reserves contributed 26 points. Chloe Lukondi and Kayla Hoehler had nine points each while Lukondi also had five rebounds. Freshman Madison Scalese dominated the boards with nine rebounds and six points.
 
The Bobcats had their best shooting game of the season shooting 47 percent from the floor, 40 percent from the three-point arc and 80 percent from the free throw line. The team also had a good day defensively in the paint, blocking six shots.
 
Pitt-Greensburg will be entering conference play this week as Hilbert travels to Chambers Hall to take part in an AMCC Doubleheader. The women's game will tip off at 3 PM.
