Bobcats Earn First Conference Win With Sunday Split

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Due to field conditions on Behrend's campus, the Bobcats and Lions played their conference doubleheader on the campus of Westminster College. A combined 41 runs were scored between both games in which the teams split. UPG took game one 16-5 while Behrend took game 2 12-8.

Notables:
Devin Renzi and Hunter Gideons combined for 8 RBI in the two games to lead the Bobcat offense. Renzi hit a home run in game one.
• The Bobcats offense came a live with a combined 32 hits in the games.
• Nine Pitt-Greensburg players recorded multiple hit games between the two contests.
• UPG recorded just one error between the two games. That is by far the best defensive performance the Bobcats have put together this season.

Game One
The Bobcats scored runs in all but two innings in game one, including an eight run third inning. The Lions committed four errors in the game to help the Bobcats take a commanding lead. Six different Bobcats had a two-hit game in game one while Devin Renzi had a three-hit game including a home run. Dereck Lopez earned the win, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up four runs on five hits.

Game Two
A ten-run first inning doomed the Bobcats from the start in game two. The Bobcats held Behrend to two runs for the rest of the game, but the deficit proved to be too much to overcome. A four-run sixth inning plus two runs in the seventh brought UPG within four, but that is as close as it became.

Up Next
The Bobcats are scheduled to host Juniata tomorrow at Bobcat Park. First pitch is scheduled for 4 pm.
