Baseball Finishes Season With Sweep of Medaille

GREENSBURG, PA – Timely hitting that led to 28 UPG runs helped the Bobcat baseball team finish the season on a four-game win streak. There was a heavy contribution from the Bobcat seniors on what would be their last game in a Pitt-Greensburg uniform. Brock McCormack earned a win while pitching a complete game, giving up just one earned run. Jacob Davey and Brody Bonadio each had multiple RBIs as they continued their hot year at the plate.

Notables
•Four Bobcats had extra base hits in game one, including a home run by Jacob Davey to the deepest part of Bobcat Park. Davey's home run was his third of the year which ties him with Michael Sullivan Jr. for the team lead.
•Six different Bobcats drove in multiple runs, including Alex Borges who hit his first collegiate home run, driving home three runs in the process.
•After giving up six runs in the first two innings, Brody Bonadio came in and pitched a solid five innings in his second career pitching appearance. Bonadio now has pitched 9.1 innings in his career, all coming within the past two weeks.
Tyler Starvaggi came in and struck out five of the final six batters to close out the game in game two.

Game One
All 11 Bobcat runs came in three innings as UPG scored five runs in the third inning and three runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings. Brock McCormack pitched what may have been the best game of his career, as he started and finished the game, giving up just one earned run. McCormack earned his first win of the season. Jordan Cavanaugh and Diego Santos each drove home two runs while Jacob Davey drove home four.

Game Two
In what was a rocky start for the Bobcats, timely hitting brough UPG back and a 12 run fifth inning propelled the team to its second AMCC sweep in a row. Freshman Hunter Gideons had a big game, driving in four runs. Brody Bonadio, Alex Borges and Will Thorp also drove in multiple runs in the game. Cavanuagh showed off his wheels, stealing his first base of his career, advancing on a wild pitch, and then scoring on an infield ground ball in the same inning. The Bobcats had six doubles in the game while Gideons had two himself.
