Tonkovich's Late Goal Propels Women's Soccer Over La Roche

PITTSBURGH – Bobcat Women's Soccer was in a battle with the RedHawks of La Roche who came into the day third in the AMCC standings behind PS Behrend and Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats were able to record 19 shots, 14 of them being on goal and defeat the RedHawks 3-2.
 
Junior Sarah Tonkovich put the Bobcats over the top as she scored a goal in the 86' to give the Bobcats a 3-2 lead. Sophomore Maya Wertelet added two goals to her AMCC lead and now sits at 15 goals for the season.
 
The Bobcats faced a 1-0 deficit going into half but rattled off 14 of the team's 19 shots in the second half to make La Roche bend until they broke. Wertelet and fellow sophomore Megan Hickey led the team with three shots on goal.
 
The Bobcats will celebrate their seniors and receive their 2022 Championship Rings this Saturday as they will host the Pioneers of Alfred State. The Ring Ceremony will begin at 11:45 and the Seniors will be recognized shortly before the 1 pm kickoff.
