Maietta Hits Eight Three-Pointers; Bobcats Roll Hawks

HAMBURG, NY – It was a record-setting night for sophomore guard Melina Maietta who scored a game-high 26 points and hit eight three pointers to break her mark of seven that she hit twice along with her assistant coach Kelsey Oddis.

Overall, the Bobcats hit ten shots from behind the arc, defeating the Hawks of Hilbert 62-48. The Bobcats had 15 assists compared to 11 turnovers and brought in 50 rebounds in the game. Freshman Tiana Moracco and senior Sidney McCully accounted for 23 of those 50 rebounds. McCully had yet another big game as she also recorded 14 points to complete the double-double.

The Bobcats won by double-digits despite scoring a season-low three points in the fourth quarter. Pitt-Greensburg went just 1-for13 from the floor in the final frame. Much of this is due to the defense having a solid second quarter, where the team gave up just four points to go into half up 32-21. A huge third quarter in which the Bobcats scored 27 points. The Bobcats had one of their best shooting nights from behind the arc, shooting 40 percent from three.

Pitt-Greensburg moves to 6-4 in AMCC play and will look to avenge an earlier loss to Penn State Altoona when the Lions pay a visit to Chambers Hall this Wednesday. Tip off will be at 7 PM.
