Bobcats Dish Out 18 Assists; Cruise Past Altoona

GREENSBURG – The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team made quick work and avenged an earlier season loss to the Lions of Penn State Altoona, defeating the Lions72-53. The Bobcats were led by senior Sidney McCully who scored a game-high 23 points, secured 13 rebounds and swiped away eight steals. Freshman Madison Scalese earned her first-career double-double, securing 13 rebounds, eight offensive, and scoring ten points.

The Bobcats ball movement was impeccable, as the team assisted on 18 of 26 field goals and turned the ball over just nine times. McCully led the team in assists with five of her own. Sophomore Melina Maietta also scored in double-figures with 16 points, including the Bobcats only two three-pointers. Freshman Tiana Moracco also had a big game on the boards, as she secured ten rebounds.

The Bobcats scored 48 points in the paint and got out in transition for 27 fast-break points. Greensburg shot 80 percent from the free-throw line as well.

The win puts the Bobcats in a good position to host the first round of the AMCC playoffs as they are now 7-4 in conference, tied with three-seed Altoona. The next two Pitt-Greensburg opponents have a combined 4-18 record in AMCC play in Pitt-Bradford and Mount Aloysius. The Bobcats will then travel to Erie to try to knock off the second place Penn State Behrend Lions.

The team will celebrate it's four seniors prior to Saturday's game with Bradford. Festivities will begin 20 minutes after the men's game concludes.
