Baseball's Season Comes to End in AMCC Playoffs

GREENSBURG – In a day that began with a lot of hype with Bobcat Park hosting its first AMCC Playoff game since 2017 ended with a somber feeling as the Hawks of Hilbert came in and scored 42 runs over two games to sweep the Bobcats in the first round of the AMCC Playoffs.

The Bobcats were leading game one going into the sixth inning only for the Hawks to have three big innings of seven runs, five runs, and seven runs again to take a 25-11 win. Michael Sullivan Jr. pitched 5.1 innings for the Bobcats and struck out two. He left the game with the bases loaded in a 7-7 game with the runner on base his responsibility. He was handed the loss after all those runners scored.

Senior Randy Hubbard had a career game at the plate as he went 4-for-4 with two home runs and two doubles. Colin Solinski also had a home run. Freshman James Domer broke the single-season triples record for the baseball program in the game as well.

Game two started as a pitcher dual as Pitt-Greensburg freshman Ben Aftanas gave up two runs in the first inning off of a Patrick Whelan home run and didn't give up another run until the fifth inning. The Bobcats were winning 3-2 only for the Hawks to score four runs and take the lead. The Hawks scored 11 more runs off the Bobcat bullpen.

In the game, Domer broke yet another record as he became the single-season hits leader for the Pitt-Greensburg baseball program.

The Bobcats finish the season with 21 wins, the most since 2018.
