Women's Soccer Dominates Altoona

The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team claimed a commanding 4-0 win over Penn State Altoona on Wednesday evening at Spring Run Stadium. Sierra Frisoli opened the scoring late in the first half, giving Pitt-Greensburg a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute with her first goal of the season. The Bobcats controlled much of the first half and continued to press after the break.

In the second half, the Bobcats extended their lead when Sarah Tonkovich scored in the 76th minute off an assist from Riley Gesinski. Just minutes later, Isabella Swartz found the back of the net to make it 3-0, with an assist from Dionna Santia. Frisoli capped off the victory with her second goal of the match in the 88th minute, assisted by Kathryn Chiado. Pitt-Greensburg dominated in both possession and chances, out shooting Altoona 15-6 and earning 11 corners. Goalkeeper Paige John recorded two saves to secure the clean sheet.

This win brings the team to 6-3-4 overall and 2-1 in the AMCC, as they continue to build momentum in conference play. Their next match up comes against Mount Aloysius College, who currently holds first place at 2-1-1 in the AMCC. This will go down on October 15th, when the Bobcats visit Cresson, PA.
