Women's Basketball Falls to Muskies Despite Career-Highs from Maietta and Penrod

The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team battled hard but ultimately fell to Muskingum, 85-74, in a competitive road game on November 13, 2024. The loss drops the Bobcats to 0-2 for the season as they continue to seek their first win.

Pitt-Greensburg came out strong, staying close to Muskingum through the first half and trailing by just one point at halftime. The game saw multiple lead changes throughout the initial quarters. However, Muskingum pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats 34-12 and building a lead the Bobcats couldn't overcome, despite a 27-point push in the final quarter.

Melina Maietta led the Bobcats with an impressive 32 points, tying a career-high, while shooting 8-of-12 from beyond the arc and grabbing five rebounds. Sarah Penrod contributed 24 points, also a career-high, going 5-for-13 from three-point range, and Tiana Moracco added 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back as they host Grove City College this Saturday, November 16th in Chambers Hall.
