Women's Basketball Struggles in Chambers Hall Opener; Fall to Grove City

GREENSBURG - The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team kicked off their season at Chambers Hall this Saturday, hosting Grove City. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the game ended in a tough loss, with a final score of 103-46, mainly due to the Wolverines' strong shooting and relentless pressure for three quarters.

Grove City came out strong, making four of seven three-point attempts in the first quarter. They also showcased their dominance on the boards, securing 31 second-chance points from 64 rebounds and hitting an impressive 17-of-19 from the free-throw line. The Wolverines' full-court press forced the Bobcats into 23 turnovers, forcing their struggles.

The depth of the Grove City bench was evident, as their reserves outscored the Bobcat reserves 69-11. Melina Maietta and Sarah Penrod led the Bobcats in scoring with 12 points each, while Ca'Mari Walden contributed a career-high eight points, primarily from mid-range shots.

Looking ahead, the Bobcats will return to practice this week and prepare for two more home games before the Thanksgiving break, starting with a matchup against Case Western Reserve on November 23.
