Penrod Has Career Night; Bobcats Fall to Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG - New number, who this? After sporting the number four her freshman season, sophomore guard Sarah Penrod may feel right at home in her new number five as she tied a career-high in points (20) in the Bobcats season-opener against Waynesburg. Penrod also had seven rebounds and two assists to lead the Bobcats. Four Bobcats scored in double-figures, but the Waynesburg offense was too much as the Jackets defeated Pitt-Greensburg 96-64.

It was the first game under first-year head coach Julie Bolden for the Bobcats, as well as eight other Bobcat players who made their collegiate debut. Freshmen Jocelyn Bielak and Kaylee Charles both started for the Bobcats, playing well over 20 minutes in the game. Bielak scored ten points and secured six rebounds while Charles has six points and seven rebounds. The reliable upperclassmen duo of Melina Maietta and Tiana Moracco combined for 25 points and eight rebounds.

Overall, the Bobcats shot just under 27 percent from the floor and made just four shots from behind the arc despite 25 attempts. The Bobcats will travel to Ohio on Nov.13 to take on Muskingum in New Concord. Tip off will be at 7 PM.
