Men's Basketball Fight; Fall Short in AMCC Semis

PITTSBURGH – In a game that the Pitt-Greensburg men's basketball team saw a 23-point deficit after La Roche guard Joe Starzynski make three shots from behind the arc to start he second half, no one would have expected the Bobcats to make it a one possession game going into the final seconds, that is, no one besides the Bobcats themselves.

A layup by sophomore James Evans-Mcquay with 18 seconds left did exactly that, however, Pitt-Greensburg was not able to close out the game after a turnover in the backcourt. Resiliency was the name of the game for the Bobcats, especially with their leading scorer, fifth-year senior Micah Jones. Jones suffered a hand injury early in the season and made it back to the court for the final two weeks of the season. Tonight, he was tied for a game-high with 24 points and made crucial three-pointers to bring the Bobcats within striking range.

Freshman Trent Rozich was also a force for the Bobcats as he scored 17 points and secured ten rebounds. Matthew Marinchak and Evans-Mcquay scored 12 points each. The Bobcats turned up the press in the second half, forcing the RedHawks into 21 turnovers.

La Roche will advance to the AMCC Championship Game tomorrow in Pittsburgh.
