Women's Basketball Falters After Competitive First Half; Drop Road Matchup to La Roche

PITTSBURGH – The season is winding down and the Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team is fighting for playoff seeding with a home first round playoff game in sight. The Bobcats took on La Roche who have won 40 consecutive AMCC games going into tonight's match up. The Bobcats were down just four at half, but the RedHawks outscored Pitt-Greensburg 62-38 to have their conference win streak live another day.

Junior Melina Maietta led the way for the Bobcats with 29 points and five assists over 36 minutes. Sophomore Madison Scalese scored 10 points and brought in 12 rebounds while Tiana Moracco flirted with a triple-double, scoring ten points, securing eight rebounds, and dishing out seven assists. Freshman Sarah Penrod also played well, scoring 15 points. The Bobcat reserves, which have been playing well down the stretch, scored just four points over 32 minutes combined.

The Bobcats will look to bounce back on Saturday when they take on the Hilbert Hawks inside Chambers Hall. The team will celebrate senior Kaylee George prior to tip off. The department will also recognize the 2002-03 women's basketball team at halftime. The team, who is the only team to win an NCAA Tournament game in school history, is being officially inducted into the Pitt-Greensburg Athletics Department Hall of Fame on Friday Night.
