Softball Sweeps Alfred State; Stay Undefeated in AMCC Play

GREENSBURG - The Pitt-Greensburg softball team face the daunting challenge of ten conference games in the next seven days. The Bobcats started out the run of AMCC play with a sweep of Alfred State as the pitching and offense combined to overwhelm the Pioneers. The Bobcats won on a Melanie Mienke walk off in game one 4-3. Autumn Powell dominated in the circle in game two, earning her second win of the season, as the Bobcats won 8-0 in five innings.

Mineke earned her fifth win of the season in game one, pitching the fill seven innings and giving up one earned run. Mienke struck out four batters and gave up just five hits. Freshman Jessica Dunn continued her hot streak at the plate as she went three-for-four wit ha double and a run scored. Four different Bobcats drove a run in. Senior Kacey Weller also had multiple hits in the game.

In game two, Autumn Powell came in on a high after earning her first career collegiate win in ehr last outing. She pushed to another win against the Pioneers ash she pitched five innings and struck out five batters while giving up just two hits. Pitt-Greensburg tallied 12 hits in the five innings. Powell, like Mienke, helped her own cause, driving in three runs at the plate. Five different Bobcats had multiple hits, including senior Megan Toth who went a perfect three-for-three.

Pitt-Greensburg will have a day to rest and will be right back at it as they host Carlow on Monday in Greensburg. Game one will be at 1 PM.
