Softball Splits With Carlow

GREENSBURG - The Pitt-Greensburg softball team came into their third AMCC series without losing a conference game through four games. The Bobcats split with the Celtics of Carlow today, but may be kicking themselves due to having multiple opportunities for Pitt-Greensburg to take both games. 

Carlow jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning of game one, but the Bobcats came storming back to score runs in the sixth and seventh inning to tie the game. Pitt-Greensburg had runners on second and third with one out in the eighth inning, but were not able to drive the winning run in. Carlow cane back to score one in the ninth and shut out the Bobcats in the bottom of the ninth.

Game two saw Carlow come screaming back from a 9-2 deficit to have the tying run on third base with two outs in the top of the seventh inning. Errors plagued the Bobcats in the Celtic comeback, but freshman Julia Jastzebski shut the door. Sophomore Autumn Powell earned her third-consecutive win in the circle. Powell went 5.1 innings and gave up just one earned run. One of the Celtics eight runs were earned. Pitt-Greensburg had nine hits and struck out just twice against the Carlow pitching.

The Bobcats will be back on the diamond tomorrow as they will travel to take on PS Altoona in yet another AMCC match up. First pitch of game one will be at 3 PM.
