Back in the Win Column; Baseball Splits With Altoona

GREENSBURG - The Pitt-Greensburg baseball team in in the middle of a pivotal stretch in their playoff hunt. The Bobcats came into the day with a 3-7 conference record sitting on the outside looking in. The team kept itself alive, splitting its series with the Lions of PS Altoona. Tyler Litts earned hist first win of the season in game one, dealing over 5.2 innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out fur. Freshman Conner Burkey earned his first career save, pitching 1.1 innings of shutout ball, striking out two. A five run seventh inning propelled the Lions over the Bobcats in game two. 

Sophomore James Domer, who came alive in game two of the Alfred State Doubleheader on Sunday continued his hot streak, going 3-for-3 with a home run, double, and also got on base for a fourth time with a walk. Thomas SMith came through with triple that scored two runs in the third inning. The Lions brought the game within a run in the sixth, but two more Bobcat runs in the bottom half of the inning sealed it. 

Game two was tied going into the sixth inning, but Altoona manage to score six runs in the next two innings to take the game. Freshman Nicholas Laubach pitched five innings and gave up just two earned runs and struck out seven batters. 

The Bobcats will play Hiram on Thursday and celebrate the team's two seniors. Game one will begin at 2 PM with the senior recognition happening between games.
