Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

McIntyre’s Late Heroics Lift Bobcats Over Penn State Behrend

Arlo McIntyre delivered a dramatic game-winning goal in the 81st minute to lift the Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon at Ridilla Field. The win not only keeps the Bobcats unbeaten in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play, improving to 7-4-3 overall and 4-0-0 in the league, but also marks their first victory over the Lions since 2004.

In a match defined by physicality and defensive grit, McIntyre's goal stood as the difference-maker. The defender found the back of the net with Pitt-Greensburg's only shot on goal, capitalizing on a rare opportunity in a game dominated by defensive stands.

"We've been extremely frustrating to play against due to our defensive organization being where it needs to be, and I think that proved accurate again today," said Head Coach Marc Bucci. "We understood their strengths and did our best to limit those opportunities. Although they were able to impose their style more efficiently than what I'd prefer, it was nice to see that our guys can win ugly when things aren't going right."

Goalkeeper Nick Braun was stellar between the posts, making four saves to earn his third shutout of the season. The Bobcats withstood a relentless Behrend attack that produced seven shots and 10 corner kicks, but the back line held firm to preserve the clean sheet.

"We'll enjoy this tonight," Bucci added, "but it's important to move on mentally tomorrow as it doesn't get any easier the rest of the way."

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday as they host a LaRoche team that will also enter the match undefeated in the conference, sitting at 3-0-1. Kickoff is scheduled for 4PM.
