Men's Soccer Battles to 1-1 Draw at Hilbert

The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road against Hilbert College on Saturday afternoon, extending their unbeaten streak in conference play to five matches.

After conceding an early goal in the fourth minute to Hilbert's Cam Murdie, the Bobcats responded with consistent pressure and a dominant second half. Brayten Sedor netted the equalizer in the 50th minute, finishing a well-placed pass from Ethan Rose to bring the match level.

Head Coach Marc Bucci noted that the early goal served as a turning point for his team.

"The goal was the wake-up call we needed to settle into the game," Bucci said. "We were able to maintain possession in long periods to negate their attack."

Pitt-Greensburg outshot Hilbert 19-7, including a 10-2 advantage in the second half. The Bobcats also earned eight corner kicks to Hilbert's one and forced four saves from Hilbert goalkeeper Nikolas D'Andrea.

Despite the offensive pressure, Hilbert's defense held firm.

"They defended well to counter our strengths," Bucci added. "And thanks to a few big saves from their goalkeeper, they were able to keep the game tied."

Sedor's goal was his first of the season, while Rose picked up his third assist. Ethan Rose and Nick Ricciardi led the team with four shots, while Lucas Pittman, Matt Armenio, and Landon Barcus each added multiple attempts on goal.

Defensively, goalkeeper Nick Braun made one save and played all 90 minutes. The back line, anchored by AJ Karstetter and Arlo McIntyre, helped limit Hilbert's chances after the early goal.

The result moves Pitt-Greensburg to 7-5-4 overall and 4-1-1 in AMCC play. They return to action next Saturday as they play host to Alfred State, with kickoff scheduled for 3:15PM, following the women's match.
