Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer capped off Senior Day with a dominant 4-0 victory over Alfred State on Saturday afternoon at Ridilla Field. The Bobcats (8-7-2, 5-1-1 AMCC) honored their senior class before kickoff, then delivered a complete performance to remain unbeaten in their last six matches and strengthen their position in the AMCC standings.
Four different players scored for Pitt-Greensburg, and senior goalkeeper Mia Camps earned her third shutout of the season with two saves. The Bobcats outshot Alfred State 23-5 and held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Reyes Opens Scoring Before Halftime
Freshman Emma Reyes opened the scoring in the 37th minute, finishing a pass from Abigail Ault to give Pitt-Greensburg a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The goal was Reyes' sixth of the season and capped a first half in which the Bobcats controlled possession and tempo.
Second-Half Surge Secures the Win
Pitt-Greensburg added three more goals in the second half. Maya Wertelet scored her fifth of the season in the 53rd minute off a feed from Dionna Santia, who later assisted Shaylene Ceruti's goal in the 75th minute. Ceruti's strike marked her first career goal and extended the lead to 3-0.
Just over a minute later, Ault added a goal of her own, assisted by Reyes, to round out the scoring. Ault and Reyes each finished with a goal and an assist, while Santia tallied two assists.
Senior Recognition
Prior to the match, Pitt-Greensburg recognized its senior class for their contributions to the program. Seniors recognized were Mia Camps, Maya Wertelet, Megan Hickey, Reese Walker, Abby Henise, Sarah Folmer, Hannah Gesinski, and Kylie Smith.
Looking Ahead
The Bobcats wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, October 28 with a Breast Cancer Awareness match at home against Mount Aloysius. Kickoff is scheduled for 3PM. They will then look to the playoffs, where they have already clinched a birth, but seeding is yet to be determined.
