The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team continued its impressive conference campaign with a commanding 6-1 win over Carlow on Wednesday afternoon at Highmark Stadium. With the victory, the Bobcats improved to 6-4-3 overall and remained perfect in AMCC play at 3-0-0. Carlow, meanwhile, fell to 1-8-0 and 0-4-0 in the conference.
Pitt-Greensburg wasted little time asserting control, scoring twice in the span of one minute late in the first half. Ethan Rose opened the scoring in the 36th minute, finishing a ball played ahead by Arlo McIntyre that slipped past the goalkeeper on a rebound. Just 50 seconds later, Matt Armenio made it 2-0 with a lofted shot over the keeper, assisted by Gavin Hennessy.
Carlow briefly cut the deficit early in the second half with a goal from Eric Fowler, but the Bobcats responded with four unanswered goals to put the match out of reach. Mitch Murray restored the two-goal cushion in the 53rd minute, converting a pass from Landon Barcus. Ivan Remaley then took over, scoring twice in a five-minute span—first with a header off a corner from Lucas Pittman, then with another header assisted by Brayten Sedor. Caleb Rumberger capped the scoring in the 78th minute with a composed finish inside the box.
The Bobcats dominated statistically, outshooting Carlow 26-10 and placing 14 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Brett Barnes played all 90 minutes and made three saves to secure the win.
"We took advantage of good chances and had a lot of success in converting," said Head Coach Marc Bucci. "Having five different goal scorers really highlights our balanced attack."
Bucci also praised the team's momentum heading into the weekend. "It'll be nice to be back at home in front of our fans for such a big game. Starting strong in conference play was a goal for us and we're looking to keep it going on Saturday."
The match also marked a milestone for Ivan Remaley, who scored his first collegiate goal. "Congrats to him!" Bucci added.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday as they host Penn State Behrend in a men's/women's double header, with women's kickoff scheduled for 2PM and men to follow after
