Men’s Soccer Falls in AMCC First Round

The Pitt-Greensburg men's soccer team saw its AMCC Championship hopes come to an end on Wednesday afternoon, falling 4-1 to Mount Aloysius in the first round of the conference tournament at Kelly Field.

Matt Armenio scored the lone goal for the Bobcats in the 38th minute, finishing off a pass from Brayten Sedor to cut the deficit to 3-1. Armenio's goal was his seventh of the season and capped a strong campaign for the veteran striker.

Mount Aloysius (11-5-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half behind two goals from Gonzalo Terricabris and one from Joel Martinez. Martinez added his second goal early in the second half to seal the win. The Mounties outshot Pitt-Greensburg 20-6 and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Despite the pressure, goalkeeper Brett Barnes made five saves to keep the Bobcats in the match. Armenio led the team with two shots on goal, while Ivan Remaley and Mitch Murray also contributed offensively.

Pitt-Greensburg finishes the AMCC season with a 4-2-2 conference record and an overall mark of 7-7-5. While the loss ends their run in the AMCC playoffs, the Bobcats remain in contention for a berth in the ECAC Division III Tournament, which will be announced November 10th.
