Cross Country Finishes Season with Strong Showing at Regionals

The Pitt-Greensburg cross country teams wrapped up their 2025 campaign at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet, delivering strong performances and personal bests on a challenging course.

On the women's side, Victoria Maher led the Bobcats with a time of 32:25.98, followed by Laura Vittone in 33:34.07 and Carinna Darragh in 34:27.64—each improving by roughly 30 seconds from their season bests. Caroline Davis was on pace for a PR before rolling her ankle late in the race, finishing in 36:03.30 despite the setback.

In the men's 8,000-meter championship, freshmen William Vaughen and Thomas Murawski capped off their first collegiate seasons with solid efforts, finishing in 33:36.23 and 35:52.66, respectively, while gaining valuable experience at the regional level.

Head Coach Jeremy Eshleman praised the team's growth and resilience throughout the year:
"I'm so proud of this team and how much they grew and improved all year. It felt like every week we got to celebrate PRs and gained valuable experience. Vic, Laura, and Carinna all had about 30-second PRs today, and Caroline was on pace for one until she unfortunately rolled her ankle. They really took advantage of the perfect weather and a surprisingly fast course."

Eshleman also highlighted the significance of the day for senior Laura Vittone:
"Laura finished off her college career the best way possible—with her fastest ever 6K. She'll be missed next season."

Assistant Coach Ashley Weyant reflected on her first season with the program:
"What an amazing season. As a first-year assistant coach, I couldn't be more proud of the growth and dedication this team has shown. Today, the athletes displayed incredible toughness. Regionals featured one of the most challenging courses we've faced this year, with more hills and elevation changes than usual, but they handled it with resilience and determination."

Weyant also gave special recognition to the team's lone senior:
"A special shoutout goes to our senior, Laura. Her leadership, consistency, and strength have shaped this team in ways that will last far beyond this season. We're incredibly proud of everything she has contributed to this program. I'm truly grateful to have been part of this journey, and I'm excited for everything the future holds for this remarkable group."

The Bobcats now turn their attention to building on this momentum for 2026, with a strong foundation of experience and improvement to carry forward.
