The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team dropped a 97-58 decision to Chatham on Tuesday evening at the Athletic & Fitness Center. The Bobcats move to 0-4 on the season, while the Cougars improve to 5-1.
Chatham jumped out to a 27-9 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, using a strong inside presence and transition play to build a commanding advantage. Pitt-Greensburg battled throughout, posting its best offensive quarter in the fourth with 18 points.
Autumn Matthews paced the Bobcats with a team-high 15 points and nine rebounds, adding four assists in 38 minutes of action. Jocelyn Bielak followed closely with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, while also dishing out five assists. Kaylee Charles provided a spark off the bench, scoring 13 points and grabbing two rebounds in 23 minutes. Anna Durbin chipped in nine points, hitting three triples.
As a team, Pitt-Greensburg shot 43.8% from the field and 50% from three-point range, while converting 73.3% of its free throws. The Bobcats recorded 13 assists and 26 rebounds but were hampered by 23 turnovers that led to 28 Chatham points.
Chatham was led by Alyssa Laukus with 21 points and nine rebounds, while Hannah Chenault added 17 points, including five three-pointers.
The Bobcats will return to action Saturday as they continue their streak of road games with a trip to Grove City. Tip-off is scheduled for 1PM.
