Women’s Soccer Falls to Penn State Behrend in AMCC Championship Match

Wertelet, Howcroft, Santia Make All-Tounament Team

The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team fell to top-seeded Penn State Behrend Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 loss in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship match.

The Bobcats, who entered the final as the No. 2 seed, were unable to overcome a dominant Behrend squad that scored twice in the first half and added five goals after the break. Despite the scoreline, Pitt-Greensburg showed resilience throughout the match, with goalkeeper Kira Howcroft making 12 saves to cap off a strong season.

Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg registered four shots, including attempts from Dionna Santia, Reese Walker, Shaylene Ceruti, and Emma Reyes. Santia's late effort in the 85th minute was blocked, while Hickey and Walker helped generate two corner kicks in the second half.

Santia, Howcroft, and senior Maya Wertelet were named to the AMCC all-tournament team for their performances throughout the playoffs.

The Bobcats finish the season with a 9-8-3 overall record and a 6-2-1 mark in AMCC play. The Bobcats now await the ECAC bid selection process to see if they will earn a birth in this year's tournament.
