The Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball team dropped its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener on Wednesday night, falling 64-39 to Penn State Altoona at Adler Arena.
The Bobcats (0-6, 0-1 AMCC) started strong, trading baskets early and trailing just 12-11 after the first quarter. However, Pitt-Greensburg struggled offensively in the middle periods, scoring only seven points in the second quarter and eight in the third as Altoona pulled away.
Kaylee Charles led the Bobcats with a team-high 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench, shooting 7-for-12 from the field. Autumn Matthews added 14 points and six boards, while Jocelyn Bielak contributed six rebounds, three points, and three assists in a full 40-minute effort.
Pitt-Greensburg shot 33.3% (15-for-45) from the floor and 21.1% from three-point range, while Penn State Altoona finished at 39.4% overall. The Lions controlled the glass with a 45-33 rebounding advantage and capitalized on second-chance opportunities, outscoring the Bobcats 13-3 in that category.
The Bobcats will look to bounce back as they stay on the road Saturday at Pitt-Bradford. Tipoff is scheduled for 2PM.
