Pitt-Greensburg battled early but fell to Muskingum, 80-60, in a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon inside Chambers Hall.
The Bobcats came out strong, shooting 70 percent in the opening quarter and trading baskets with the Muskies. Jocelyn Bielak set the tone with a jumper in the paint at 8:18, and Autumn Matthews added a mid-range bucket to give UPG a brief lead. Bielak and Matthews combined for several key scores, including a Matthews three-pointer late in the second quarter that trimmed the deficit to single digits. Bielak's three at the 5:24 mark kept the Bobcats within six, but Muskingum answered with back-to-back threes to close the half ahead 42-33.
After halftime, Muskingum seized control with a decisive third quarter, outscoring Pitt-Greensburg 19-9. Despite Bielak's relentless effort—highlighted by a tip-in and multiple second-chance points—the Bobcats couldn't overcome turnovers that fueled Muskingum's transition game. The visitors stretched their lead to 20 midway through the fourth, and although Bielak and Matthews continued to score, Muskingum's perimeter shooting proved too much.
Bielak finished with a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds, recording her second double-double of the season. Matthews added 11 points and eight boards, while Ca'Mari Walden chipped in eight points and five rebounds. Pitt-Greensburg shot an efficient 50 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three, but 30 turnovers led to 34 Muskingum points.
Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Saturday with a home non-conference matchup with Waynesburg. Tip-off is scheduled for 1PM.Â
