Pitt-Greensburg women's basketball dropped a non-conference matchup to Waynesburg on Saturday afternoon at Chambers Hall, falling 77-46 despite a strong individual performance from Jocelyn Bielak.
The Bobcats (1-11, 1-2 AMCC) opened the game with energy, as Bielak scored the first three points on a layup and free throw at 7:54 in the first quarter. After a back-and-forth start, Kaprice Johnson knocked down a three-pointer with just over a minute left in the period to cut the deficit to 19-11. However, Waynesburg answered with a buzzer-beating triple from Macie Justice to take a 22-11 lead after one.
In the second quarter, Ca'Mari Walden connected from deep at 9:12 to keep the Bobcats within striking distance at 22-14. Bielak added two layups late in the frame, trimming the margin to seven at 29-22 with 4:16 remaining. Waynesburg responded with a 9-0 run to close the half, taking a 38-22 advantage into the break.
The third quarter proved decisive as Waynesburg outscored Pitt-Greensburg 22-7, fueled by three-pointers from Mia Henkins and strong inside play. Bielak hit a three at 4:41, but the Bobcats trailed 60-29 heading into the final period.
Pitt-Greensburg showed fight in the fourth, scoring 17 points behind Bielak and Walden. Bielak finished with a game-high 24 points, adding four steals and four rebound
