Men's Basketball Falls in AMCC Semi-Finals

BRADFORD, PA – The Bobcat men's Basketball team came into the AMCC semi-finals on a terror, dropping just one game in the calendar year. Pitt-Greensburg also received a boost in junior Jackson Byer returning to play after injuring his foot earlier in the season. Byer made his presence felt, scoring a team-high 19 points, but 29 points from Penn State Altoona senior Dwayne Jones, along with 15 rebounds and six blocks, halted the Bobcat's magic as the Lions defeated UPG 99-78.

The Bobcats had four players score in double figures, including junior Joziah Wyatt-Taylor, who scored 15 points. Matthew Marinchak and Ty Keffer score 12 points each. Keffer led the Bobcats with eight rebounds and three offensive boards. Pitt-Greensburg took advantage of the turnovers they forced, 11, scoring 16 points off those Altoona giveaways. The Lions shot 54 percent from the floor, but the Bobcats outshot them from behind the arc with their chances, as UPG shot 35 percent from deep while Altoona shot 30 percent. Wyatt-Taylor was a force in the paint as the Bobcats scored 38 points in the restricted area and 19 second-chance points.

The Bobcats will wait to see if they are selected for a bid into a postseason tournament, as the selections will be revealed on Monday, March 3.
