Myers Reaches Century Mark; Softball Sweeps Chatham

GREENSBURG, PA – It was a milestone day for the Pitt-Greensburg softball program as the team's sweep of Chatham gave the Bobcats their first sweep of the season, and gave Pitt-Greensburg Head Coach Chuck Myers wins 100 and 101 on his Pitt-Greensburg career, making him the first softball coach to reach the 100-win mark while at Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats took both games of the doubleheader 6-2.
 
Game One:
 
Chatham jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the top of the first inning in game one and followed that up with another run in the third inning. The Bobcats came storming back with two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth to take the game.
 
Melanie Mienke started the game by giving up just one earned run in four innings. Autumn Powell came in for three innings of relief and earned her first win of the season. Combined, the two struck out seven batters.
 
Sophomores Jadyn Davis and Makenzie Lang each had two hits in the game. Hunter Taylor drove in three on a bases-clearing double. To put the game out of reach.
 
Game two
 
Sophomore Julia Jastrzebski started for the Bobcats in game two and pitched one of her better games in a Pitt-Greensburg uniform. She did not give up a hit through 3.2 innings and gave up two runs. Freshman Paige Phillips came in for 3.1 innings of relief and earned her second win.
 
Autumn Powell, Mia Dalessandro, Mackenzie Lamb, and Madyson Hart all had two hits in the game. The Bobcats had 11 hits as a team and did not strike out once in game two.
 
Up next:
 
The Bobcats will host the Battle of Rt. 30 on Friday as the Bearcats of Saint Vincent visit the Pitt-Greensburg Campus. First pitch of game one will be at 3 p.m.
