Softball Splits Batt of Rt. 30 With Saint Vincent

GREENSBURG, PA—The Battle of Rt. 30, softball edition, started out fast for Pitt-Greensburg, with three first-inning home runs in game one, but ended with a crash as the Bearcats took game two to split the doubleheader by a score of 24-1.
 
Game One:
 
Bobcat sophomore Jadyn Davis took the first pitch she saw over the outfield fence, followed by a home run by freshman Shelby Cloak on the second pitch that she saw. Three batters later, junior pitcher Autumn Powell helped her own cause, bashing a three-run home run over the fence to help the Bobcats take a 9-0 lead after the first inning. Pitt-Greensburg scored three more runs in the second and added one more in the fourth to complete the eight-run rule.
 
Powell pitched the full five innings and struck out six batters while giving up just four hits. The lone run given up was unearned. Pitt-Greensburg totaled ten hits with Davis, Cloak, and freshman Ryleigh Kasten all tallying two hits. Seven of the nine Bobcats in the lineup had a hit.
 
Game Two
 
The second game was one to forget for the Bobcats as a 17-run second inning propelled the Bearcats to a 22-0 lead. The Bobcats scored their lone run in the bottom of the second, but it wasn't enough. 21 of the 24 runs the Bearcats scored were earned runs.
 
Cassidy Kunkel and McKenzie Lamb accounted for four of the Bobcats' six hits in the game.
