Softball Falls to Trine in NCAA Regionals

ANGOLA, IN—It was a day of firsts for the Pitt-Greensburg softball team. The Bobcats competed in the program's first NCAA Tournament Regional. Pitt-Greensburg took on Midwest powerhouse Trine, falling 8-3 to the Thunder.
 
Melanie Mienke and Autumn Powell took the circle for the Bobcats, pitching three innings each—the two All-AMCC pitchers combined for a pair of strikeouts. The Bobcat offense combined with four hits, two of which came from sophomore first baseman Makenzie Lang. Lang drove in two of the Bobcats' three runs. Fellow sophomore Jessica Dunn also drove in a run with an RBI double that freshman Shelby Cloak scored.
 
Pitt-Greensburg will play in an elimination game tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. in Angola. The Bobcats will face the losers of Baldwin Wallace and Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
