Baseball Drops Opening Matchup of AMCC Tournament to Bradford

JOHNSTOWN, PA – It was déjà vu for the Bobcats and Panthers as they took the field at Sargent's Stadium at the Point for the third time in less than a week. This time, it was for the first round of the AMCC Tournament.
 
The Bobcats' Ace Conner Burkey took the ball for Pitt-Greensburg, going up against Shawn Mannering, two of the top pitchers in the conference. Mannering came out on top this time, after the Bobcats took him for seven runs, three earned in the team's previous matchup on May 2. Burkey took his first loss of the season, throwing six innings, giving up four home runs and six hits.
 
The Bobcats' offense was dormant for most of the game, as the team had just two hits through the first six innings. The team doubled that in the seventh inning alone, going for four hits. Bradford also had a strong seventh inning, scoring 11 runs to put the game out of reach.
 
The Bobcats will be back in action on Thursday, starting at 7 p.m., and will play against the loser of Penn State Behrend and Hilbert. That game's first pitch will be at 1 p.m. in Johnstown.
