Wertelet’s Header Secures 1-0 Win for Bobcats Over Waynesburg

Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer earned a gritty 1-0 victory over Waynesburg University on Wednesday evening at Ridilla Field, improving to 2-2-1 on the season.

The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute when Maya Wertelet headed home a rebound off the post, following a shot from Sydney Hares, who was credited with her first career assist. The goal was Wertelet's second of the season and gave the Bobcats the edge in a tightly contested match.

Pitt-Greensburg registered five total shots, four of which were on target. Megan Hickey led the offensive effort with three shots, while Sierra Frisoli and Wertelet each added one shot on goal.

On the defensive end, freshman goalkeeper Anna Fauber was outstanding, making four saves to earn her first career shutout. The Bobcats' back line held firm against a Waynesburg attack that tallied 10 shots and controlled time of possession.

The Bobcats look to remain in the win column as they hit the road for a weekend trip to Williamsport, PA to take on Lycoming College and Penn College. Lycoming kickoff is scheduled for 1pm Saturday and Penn kickoff 1pm on Sunday
