Bobcats Fall to Waynesburg in Tight Match

The Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to visiting Waynesburg University on Tuesday evening at Chambers Hall, falling 25-18, 26-24, 25-17 in a competitive non-conference match-up.

The turning point of the match came in a tight 2nd set, where Pitt-Greensburg held a 23-20 lead. Waynesburg then converted 6 of the next 7 points to win the set 26-24, putting the Yellow Jackets in the driver's seat

Mia Stohon continues her strong start of the season leading the offensive charge for Pitt-Greensburg, tallying 9 kills on 18 attempts with a stellar .389 hitting percentage. She also added 5 digs to round out a solid all-around performance. Freshman Lilly Buckles contributed 7 kills and 13 assists, while Racey Scheuerman chipped in 6 kills and a block assist.

Abigail Smulik distributed the ball effectively, finishing with 11 assists and 6 digs. Defensively, Emily Hernandez anchored the back row with a team-high 16 digs.

The Bobcats recorded 35 kills as a team and hit .147 overall, with their most efficient set coming in the third (.214). The match featured 22 tie scores and 14 lead changes, highlighting the competitive nature of the contest.

Waynesburg (1-7) was paced by Kristina Zadrozny, who posted 13 kills and 13 digs, hitting .440 for the match. 

Pitt-Greensburg travels to Wooster, OH this weekend to take part in the Kilt Classic. First game of the event features UPG vs host Wooster at 3pm on Sept 12th.
