Volleyball Drops Two at PSU Harrisburg Tri-Match

The Pitt-Greensburg women's volleyball team faced a tough doubleheader on Saturday, falling in straight sets to both Penn State Harrisburg and undefeated New Jersey City University at the Capital Union Building.


Match 1: Penn State Harrisburg 3, Pitt-Greensburg 0

Set Scores: 12-25, 22-25, 13-25

Pitt-Greensburg showed flashes of competitive play in the second set but ultimately couldn't overcome a strong Penn State Harrisburg squad. Mia Stohon led the Bobcats offensively with 5 kills on 13 attempts, hitting .308 and adding a solo block. Abigail Smulik contributed 4 kills and 2 digs, while Emily Hernandez anchored the back row with a team-high 18 digs.

Gianna Monzo dished out 7 assists and added 2 digs, and Lilly Buckles had a solid all-around performance with 1 kill, 5 assists, and 7 digs. 


Match 2: New Jersey City 3, Pitt-Greensburg 0

Set Scores: 18-25, 21-25, 17-25

In the second match, Pitt-Greensburg battled hard against undefeated New Jersey City University, keeping each set within reach. Racey Scheuerman led the attack with 6 kills and a .429 hitting percentage, while Mia Stohon added 4 kills and hit .273.

Lilly Buckles again contributed across the board with 2 kills, 8 assists, and 8 digs. Emily Hernandez continued her strong defensive play with 12 digs, and Megan Cassaday chipped in 10 digs of her own.

The Bobcats improved their hitting percentage to .053 in the second match and recorded 39 total digs, showing resilience and defensive effort against a high-powered Gothic Knights offense.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action Thursday as they travel to Ohio to take on Franciscan for a 7PM start.
