Freshman forward Sydney Hares scored her first career goal for Pitt-Greensburg, but the Bobcats fell 3-1 to John Carroll on a rainy Wednesday evening at Ridilla Field.
Hares' milestone moment came in the 68th minute, when she capitalized on a corner kick and buried a shot past the keeper—marking the lone goal for the Bobcats and their only shot on target. The goal was a bright spot in a match played under persistent rain and on a slick, sloppy field that challenged both teams throughout.
John Carroll struck first in the 22nd minute and added two more goals early in the second half to build a 3-0 lead before Hares' strike narrowed the gap.
Goalkeepers Kira Howcroft and Mia Camps combined for five saves, with Camps notably stopping a penalty kick late in the match to keep the scoreline from widening.
This match marks the end of what was promised to be a tough non-conference schedule, finishing that portion of the schedule with a 3-6-1 record. The Bobcats will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Penn State Altoona for the AMCC conference opener. Kickoff is scheduled for 7PM.Â
