Women's Soccer Battles to 0-0 Draw at Penn State Altoona

The Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Penn State Altoona on Tuesday evening at Spring Run Stadium.

Despite dominating the offensive statistics, the Bobcats were unable to find the back of the net, outshooting the Lions 16-3 and earning seven corner kicks to Altoona's none. Pitt-Greensburg also placed 10 shots on goal, but Altoona goalkeeper Mya Torres stood tall with a 10-save performance to preserve the shutout.

Goalkeeper Kira Howcroft anchored the Bobcats' defense, making one save and recording her second shutout of the season. The defense held strong throughout the contest, allowing only 3 Altoona shots with one on goal.

Offensively, Pitt-Greensburg saw contributions across the board. Megan Hickey led the team with three shots, while Reese Walker, Riley Gesinski, and Ceruti each added two. Gabriella Finch nearly broke the deadlock in the final minute, striking the crossbar with 15 seconds left in the match.

The Bobcats controlled possession throughout the match, especially in the first half, where they registered 12 of their 16 shots.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action this Saturday as they travel to Pitt-Bradford for another AMCC contest. Kickoff is scheduled for 4PM.
