In their first weekend in action of the new year, the Bobcat bowling team competed in two major events: the Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic and the Western PA Baker Shootout, both hosted by Saint Vincent College at New Great Valley Lanes in North Versailles.
Saturday's event, the Greater Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic, was a combination of traditional and baker matches. In the traditional portion of the event,
Kayla Fillar finished 23rd in a field over 80+ bowlers. Her three-game score was 481, an average of 166.3 per game. Paiyton Theakson and
Nora Knopp finished just 3 pins apart, good for 55th and 56th place, respectively. Jocelyn Bielak was not far behind, finishing 61st and
Samantha Hanawalt rounded out the scoring in 64th. For the baker rounds on Saturday, UPG bowled scores of 458, 458 and 452.
Overall on the day, the team finished in 10th place with a total pinfall of 3096.
Sunday the team returned to the lanes for the Western PA Baker Shootout, where they bowled 7 baker style games. Their scores on the day were 471, 411, 467, 406, 471, and 378 for a total daily score of 3095, good enough for 10th place.
The bowling team will be back in action February 7th at the Bobcat Classic.
