In a game that swung on every possession and featured seven ties and eight lead changes, Pitt‑Greensburg men's basketball delivered in the biggest moments, closing out a hard‑fought 64–60 win over Hilbert on Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Hall.

The Bobcats struck first and controlled much of the early tempo behind the hot shooting of Ty Keffer, who buried a three on the game's opening possession and stayed dialed in throughout the half. Keffer knocked down three triples in the first 14 minutes, each arriving just when UPG needed to answer a Hilbert basket or stop a budding run. His make at the 14:35 mark pushed the Bobcats back in front, and another at 13:42 created their largest lead of the opening stretch at 14–8.

While Keffer was punishing the Hawks from the perimeter, Larry Morse dominated the paint, scoring repeatedly at the rim and keeping Pitt‑Greensburg within striking distance during stretches of heavy Hilbert pressure. Morse finished the first half with 14 points and consistently carved out space inside, helping steady the Bobcats when turnovers or cold shooting threatened to slow their momentum.

The Bobcats' depth proved vital as well. Jahmir Collins and Michael Bigley each provided key first‑half baskets, and a late surge sent UPG into the locker room with a 37–33 lead.

Hilbert responded immediately after halftime, chipping away until a put‑back at the 13:38 mark tied the game at 45–45. The Hawks briefly nudged ahead from the free‑throw line, but Morse answered with a smooth jumper and the teams continued to trade blows. Jayden Montgomery ignited the crowd midway through the period, jumping a passing lane, racing the length of the floor, and finishing a fastbreak layup at 7:39 that put the Bobcats back on top.

Defense shaped much of the second half, and UPG's guards delivered several momentum‑changing plays. Lewis came up with perhaps the biggest stop of the night at the 2:53 mark, soaring for a block on a would‑be go‑ahead layup that preserved a one‑point deficit and sent the ball back the other way. A possession later, the Bobcats turned that energy into points, and the tense final minutes were set in motion.

Trailing 58–56 in the closing three minutes, Pitt‑Greensburg got a needed lift from Morse again, as he muscled home a put‑back with 5:56 left to regain the lead. Hilbert, as it had all day, countered quickly and went up 58–56 on a pair of drives from Bigley. But UPG stayed composed, and Ari Jones stepped to the line with 3:04 remaining, hitting the first of two free throws to trim the deficit to one. Moments later, Jones was fouled again in transition, and his free throw with 1:50 remaining tied the game at 58–58.

After a Hilbert bucket temporarily made it 60–58, UPG went straight back inside. Lewis, attacking the offensive glass, was fouled with under a minute to play and calmly knocked down two free throws to pull the Bobcats even. On the next UPG possession, Jackson Byer delivered the moment of the afternoon. With just 11 seconds left, Byer drove hard to his right, slipped between two defenders, and kissed a layup off the glass to give Pitt‑Greensburg a 62–60 lead.

Hilbert called timeout to draw up a final look, but the Bobcats tightened the screws defensively. Forced to foul in the final seconds, the Hawks sent Trent Rozich to the line, and the senior forward sealed the victory with two free throws as time expired.

Keffer finished with a team‑high 18 points, while Rozich added 11 points and eight rebounds and Bigley scored eight while contributing timely playmaking. Morse anchored the interior with 20 points and nine boards, and Lewis provided eight rebounds, defensive toughness, and the two clutch free throws that helped set up the game‑winning sequence.

With the win, Pitt‑Greensburg improves to 14–2 overall and 6–1 in AMCC play, continuing its strong 2025–26 campaign and maintaining its position near the top of the conference standings.
